Aruba Airport Authority gives a presentation on improving the interisland connectivity between the Caribbean islands in the Kingdom to the Minister of Climate and Energy Policy
ORANJESTAD – This past May 11th, management of Aruba Airport Authority NV (AAA) gave a presentation to Minister Rob Jetten, Minister of Climate and Energy Policy of the Dutch government about how the air connections between the islands can be improved. Minister Jetten was accompanied by Mr. Hamza Kacha, Program Manager Caribbean Netherlands at the Ministry of Climate and Energy Policy, Mr. Michiel de Graaf, Senior Policy Adviser/ Press Officer and Mrs. Geraldine Ras both from the Representation of the Netherlands in Aruba (VNO).
At the meeting, AAA’s CEO Mr. Joost Meijs, gave an extensive account of the current state of affairs at the Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) regarding the strategic plans and developments in the field of electric flying. The latter mainly in the context of making the flight connections between the CAS and BES islands in the Caribbean more sustainable, more efficient, and cheaper in the short and long term. The working group, which is working on a Joint Strategic Plan for this within the framework of the DCCA, was also extensively discussed.
For his part, Minister Jetten has given his vision of the opportunities of electric flying for the Caribbean part of the Kingdom and of the enormous opportunities that exist if all governments, authorities, and aviation parties work well together.
"The exchange of information about current projects, plans and developments on the islands and in the Netherlands was extremely instructive, useful and enlightening in several areas. The contacts that have now been made will come in handy in the roll-out of the Joint Strategic Plan for improving the connections between the islands. This plan is expected to be delivered in October this year," said Mr. Joost Meijs, CEO AAA.
About the DCCA
The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) is a cooperation between all six Caribbean Airports within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. DCCA’s objective is to improve the general quality of each individual airport by facilitating mutual assistance and efficient exchange of information, transfer of knowledge and sharing of expertise with the goal of achieving economies of scale. DCCA aims to present future focused alternative air transportation options to improve interisland connectivity between the Dutch Caribbean Islands.

ORANJESTAD – El pasado 11 de mayo, la gerencia de Aruba Airport Authority NV (AAA) hizo una presentación al Ministro Rob Jetten, Ministro de Política Climática y Energética del gobierno holandés sobre cómo se pueden mejorar las conexiones aéreas entre las islas. El Ministro Jetten estuvo acompañado por el Sr. Hamza Kacha, Gerente de Programa Caribe Neerlandés en el Ministerio de Política Climática y Energética, el Sr. Michiel de Graaf, Asesor Superior de Políticas/Encargado de Prensa y la Sra. Geraldine Ras, ambos de la Representación de los Países Bajos en Aruba ( OVN).
En la reunión, el director ejecutivo de AAA, el Sr. Joost Meijs, brindó una descripción detallada del estado actual de las cosas en la Cooperación de Aeropuertos del Caribe Holandés (DCCA) con respecto a los planes estratégicos y desarrollos en el campo de los vuelos eléctricos. Esto último principalmente en el contexto de hacer que las conexiones de vuelos entre las islas CAS y BES en el Caribe sean más sostenibles, eficientes y económicas a corto y largo plazo. El grupo de trabajo, que está trabajando en un Plan Estratégico Conjunto para esto en el marco de la DCCA, también fue ampliamente discutido.
Por su parte, el Ministro Jetten ha dado su visión de las oportunidades de los vuelos eléctricos para la parte caribeña del Reino y de las enormes oportunidades que existen si todos los gobiernos, autoridades y partes de la aviación trabajan bien juntos.
"El intercambio de información sobre proyectos, planes y desarrollos actuales en las islas y en los Países Bajos fue extremadamente instructivo, útil y esclarecedor en varias áreas. Los contactos que se han hecho ahora serán útiles en el lanzamiento de la Alianza Estratégica Conjunta. Plan para mejorar las conexiones entre las islas. Se espera que este plan se entregue en octubre de este año", dijo el Sr. Joost Meijs, CEO AAA.
Acerca de la DCCA
La Cooperación Holandesa de Aeropuertos del Caribe (DCCA) es una cooperación entre los seis aeropuertos del Caribe dentro del Reino de los Países Bajos. El objetivo de DCCA es mejorar la calidad general de cada aeropuerto individual al facilitar la asistencia mutua y el intercambio eficiente de información, la transferencia de conocimientos y el intercambio de experiencia con el objetivo de lograr economías de escala. DCCA tiene como objetivo presentar opciones de transporte aéreo alternativas enfocadas en el futuro para mejorar la conectividad entre islas entre las islas del Caribe holandés.
