ORANJESTAD – Looking back at a successful year 2019, Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) would like to take this opportunity to recognize and congratulate their airline and ground handling partners who made it possible and were part of managing the day to day complexities of running an airport operation whilst maintaining a high On-Time Performance (OTP).
OTP is measured against the scheduled time of departure including a 10 minute buffer. The average percentage of OTP flights for all airlines in Aruba in 2019 was 77%. Copa Airlines was the front-runner for 2019 at Aruba Airport with an OTP of 93%. Additionally, Copa Airlines ranked number 2 worldwide with an OTP of 92% among all airlines including mainline and low-cost carriers according to Official Aviation Guide’s (OAG) latest Punctuality League Report – a commendable achievement for Copa Airlines.
For an airline, a high OTP percentage greatly influences company culture and employee morale and has financial, operational, cultural and reputational effects. To maintain a great OTP, it requires many people and functions to perform consistently together. For Aruba Airport, this means an optimal use of the parking stands and gates especially during peak times and providing passengers with a better overall passenger experience having a less congested airport terminal due to delays.
As Aruba Airport’s Gateway 2030 project is about to take-off, AAA and all its partners are looking forward to an exceptional, modern and efficient airport providing passengers with optimal service and a streamlined passenger experience.
